Pick of
the Litter Dog Training offers Group Dog Training Classes and Private, In-home Lessons to residents of Western
Washington. Jennifer Schneider, owner of Pick of the
Litter Dog Training, is one of a small number of Certified Pet
Dog Trainer's (CPDT) in the country. Jennifer works will all
breeds and ages of dogs, but specializes in working with
terriers, rescue dogs, integrating dog and cat households, and dogs
with fear or anxiety issues. Jennifer has been training dogs for companionship and competition for
over nearly twenty years and instructing dogs and their owners professionally
since 1997. She is a graduate from the University of Washington with her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with an emphasis on animal learning and motivation. She is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers
(APDT) and is published with many animal welfare and breed rescue organizations in addition to being quoted in recent issues of DOGS magazine and TRAINING YOUR PUPPY.
Jennifer relies on positive, dog
friendly techniques and clicker
training in her group classes and private lessons, which focus on rewarding positive behaviors and redirecting unwanted behaviors. She believes every dog to be an individual and as such finds the appropriate rewards and techniques for each particular dog.
Jennifer works one on one with clients
throughout King County and Pierce County for the purpose of
solving behavior problems, providing home schooling in
obedience skills, assistance with new puppies, or new puppy
selection. Behavior problems that can be addressed include:
housebreaking (potty training), chewing, digging, barking, jumping up, play
biting (mouthing), stealing, guarding, chasing, fear
behaviors, dominance testing, anxiety when left alone
(separation anxiety), bolting out doorways, pulling on leash, not coming when called, and
aggression directed at dogs or people. Group Classes (including Puppy
Kindergarten, Basic Obedience, Canine Good Citizen, Field
Trip, Terrier Manners, and Agility) are held in two convenient locations
in South King County, one in Auburn and one in Burien. These classes have produced thousands of well-mannered dogs from
all around the Puget Sound region. All classes are limited to eight students to allow for each dog and their owners to receive individual attention and advice. The entire family is encouraged to participate in training, producing a dog that responds reliably to every family member.
